Design-based education
In a Design-Based Education model, used in the Frisian Design Factory and Communication & Multimedia Design, students collaborate across disciplines with educators, professionals, politicians and others in creative ways to solve complex challenges relevant for personal and professional development as well as to benefit society. Design Principles guide our way of thinking and working, meaning that we aim to involve many different actors, empathize with missing stakeholders, generate a diverse range of ideas, build physical prototypes early on to share our thoughts, and ask feedback from others. Using a combination of blueprints and plug & play materials derived from the field of product design we create an environment where everybody can feel free to contribute in a way they find meaningful.
